This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.
The NDT Level II Radiographic Testing: Mastering Weld Inspection and Internal Flaw Detection course is a comprehensive professional technical training program designed for aspiring NDT technicians, welding inspectors, quality control and quality assurance professionals, pipeline and pressure-vessel inspection personnel, materials engineers, and technicians preparing to advance their radiographic testing knowledge. The course develops a structured understanding of Radiographic Testing (RT), X-ray and gamma-ray physics, radiation sources, X-ray equipment, isotope sources, Image Quality Indicators (IQIs), radiographic films, screens, digital detectors, and radiation safety principles. Learners progress from the fundamental principles of penetrating radiation through practical inspection concepts used for identifying internal discontinuities in welded joints and industrial components.
Participants will develop practical knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques, equipment selection, SWSI, DWSI and DWDI arrangements, exposure calculations, geometric unsharpness, film processing, radiographic density, image quality, weld discontinuities, defect identification, defect sizing, interpretation, and inspection documentation. The training addresses common weld imperfections including cracks, porosity, slag inclusions, lack of fusion, and incomplete penetration, while introducing interpretation principles associated with ASME Section V, ISO 17636, EN requirements, and related acceptance criteria. Learners also study ALARA radiation-protection principles, source handling awareness, personal and area monitoring, image quality indicators, film traceability, RT reporting, and quality-assurance documentation.
The course further addresses digital radiography (DR), computed radiography (CR), advanced radiographic interpretation, code-based acceptance decisions, real-world inspection practice, and certification examination preparation. Through eight comprehensive modules containing more than thirty detailed lectures, learners progress from RT fundamentals through equipment, techniques, film processing, weld defects, radiographic interpretation, advanced applications, and final assessment. The program incorporates case studies and practical examples from the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, and Japan, together with advanced professional techniques and a 15-question MCQ assessment designed around the type and difficulty of concepts encountered in NDT Level II RT examinations.
