Come oratore professionista, ho partecipato, parlato e osservato innumerevoli conferenze e riunioni. Ho visto oratori incredibili e alcuni davvero terribili – anche alcuni dei cosiddetti professionisti! Ma ecco la cosa: oggi non stiamo parlando di oratori professionisti.
Se hai competenze, una prospettiva unica o un punto da condividere in praticamente qualsiasi campo, è probabile che prima o poi ti venga chiesto di 'fare una presentazione'. Che sia per il team di otto persone dell'account al terzo piano, un gruppo di beneficenza locale o un pubblico internazionale di migliaia di persone, ora sei la persona davanti alla stanza.
FERMATI PER UN MOMENTO
Nei miei 25 anni di esperienza, ho visto solo un oratore non professionista avere il suo pubblico ai suoi piedi. Solo uno!
Quindi, con rispetto, è improbabile che tu riesca a fare un'ottima impressione. Ma ecco il punto: probabilmente non saprai mai se il tuo discorso è davvero arrivato...
Perché?
- Probabilmente non ti è stato pagato molto (se non per niente), quindi nessuno criticherà un gratuito.
- L'organizzatore è semplicemente grato che tu abbia accettato di parlare.
- Il feedback è sempre gentile: “Grazie mille! È stato affascinante e così rilevante!” (Bla, bla, bla...)
- Non sei un relatore regolare, quindi le persone non si aspettano una performance raffinata.
- Il pubblico è generalmente gentile e non ti dirà cosa ha veramente pensato.
- Se sei il capo, non hanno altra scelta che ascoltare!
