このコースについて

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

Complete 3D Printing Guide is a comprehensive theory-based course designed to build a clear understanding of additive manufacturing from fundamental concepts through advanced industrial technologies and applications. The course begins with the definition, history, and digital workflow of 3D printing, including design, file preparation, slicing, build preparation, printing, post-processing, and quality assurance. Students also examine common digital model formats such as STL, OBJ, and 3MF, along with orientation, support generation, toolpath creation, G-code output, calibration, material loading, environmental control, inspection, and documentation.
Students then study Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM/FFF) in detail, including extrusion systems, cold-end and hot-end components, motion systems, layer height, print speed, temperature, infill, and cooling. The course continues with Stereolithography (SLA), Digital Light Processing (DLP), and masked SLA, explaining photopolymerization, bottom-up and top-down systems, exposure methods, laser and LED light sources, UV curing, resin behavior, handling, and post-curing requirements.
Industrial powder-bed technologies are covered through Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), Selective Laser Melting (SLM), and Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS). Students explore powder distribution, preheating, inert atmospheres, laser scanning, polymer and metal materials, support requirements, optical systems, scan strategies, and the relationship between laser power, scan speed, hatch spacing, layer thickness, and energy density. Additional additive manufacturing processes include material jetting, PolyJet, binder jetting, Directed Energy Deposition, sheet lamination, Electron Beam Melting, and Continuous Liquid Interface Production.
A dedicated module develops understanding of accuracy, precision, tolerance, resolution, dimensional error, design allowances, GD&T considerations, layer height, XY resolution, minimum feature size, and measurement and verification. This gives students a practical framework for understanding why printed parts may differ from their digital models and how technology choice and process settings affect final quality.
The final module connects theory to real-world applications through detailed examples involving GE Aviation fuel nozzles, Renishaw medical implants, BMW automotive prototyping, and Luytens architectural models. These examples demonstrate technology selection, design decisions, materials, post-processing, workflow integration, quality requirements, and production results across aerospace, medical, automotive, and architectural applications.
By the end of the course, students will be able to explain how major 3D printing technologies work, compare their capabilities and limitations, identify important process parameters and materials, understand dimensional performance, and relate additive manufacturing processes to practical applications. The course is suitable for engineers, designers, students, hobbyists, makers, and anyone seeking a structured technical foundation in 3D printing and additive manufacturing.
